It is with unsurmountable sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Josué Vega Alvarez and Eugenia Veronica Alvarez (mother and son). Eugenia was the mother of three children (Geiler and Danae), of which Josué was the youngest child. Josué was a talented football (soccer) player in his home country. He made the difficult, yet courageous decision to seek a better life in the US with the dream of reuniting his family. After four years of sweat, blood, tears, a bit of savings, and a heart full of faith and a deep love for his family, his dream came to fruition. Unfortunately, after reuniting his family Josué's dream quickly turned into a nightmare as tragedy struck his family. On 06/14/2023, Josué and his mother Eugenia were killed in their home by what can only be described as a heinous act that has left all those that knew them both with a huge void and wound that may never heal. An ambitious and truly remarkable young man who had a hunger to conquer everything to which he set his mind, Josué profoundly impacted all the lives he touched. All that knew Josué and Eugenia will remember them as caring, loving, and thoughtful people. Both were taken from us too soon, and they will be truly missed. May they rest in paradise.
We are raising money for their funeral expenses to ensure that we honor them with the proper memorial service they deserve. A separate GoFundMe has been created for Josué's sister (Danae Velazquez Alvarez) who suffered a gunshot wound to the face as a result of this tragedy. Her GoFundMe link is included below and will go towards helping with medical costs associated with her injuries and recovery.

Es con una tristeza insuperable y un pesar en el corazón que comunicamos el fallecimiento de Josué Vega Alvarez y Eugenia Veronica Alvarez (madre e hijo). Eugenia era madre de tres hijos (Geiler y Danae), de los cuales Josué era el menor. Josué era un talentoso jugador de fútbol en su país de origen. Tomó la difícil, pero valiente decisión de buscar una vida mejor en los EE. UU. con el sueño de reunir a su familia. Después de cuatro años de sudor, sangre, lágrimas, un poco de ahorro y un corazón lleno de fe y un profundo amor por su familia, su sueño se hizo realidad. Desafortunadamente, después de reunir a su familia, el sueño de Josué se convirtió rápidamente en una pesadilla cuando la tragedia golpeó a su familia. El 14/06/2023, Josué y su madre Eugenia fueron asesinados en su casa en lo que solo puede describirse como un acto atroz que ha dejado a todos los que los conocieron con un gran vacío y una herida que quizás nunca cicatrice. Un joven ambicioso y verdaderamente notable que tenía hambre de conquistar todo lo que se proponía, Josué impactó profundamente todas las vidas que tocó. Todos los que conocieron a Josué y Eugenia los recordarán como personas solidarias, cariñosas y detallistas. Ambos nos fueron arrebatados demasiado pronto, y los extrañaremos mucho.
