Our precious 3 year old French Bulldog, Eugene, is unfortunately not doing so well in the past couple of months. Jason and I, Eugene's pawrents, have tried to keep whats going on with Eugene private. To anyone who knows and/or met Eugene, they would tell you that he is an active, sweet, and cuddly pup. He's super friendly and loving. He is our adventurous road dog. He goes on all our road trips with us. He's been to San Francisco, Las Vegas, and even Chicago. He LOVES to play basketball with his dad.
Lately, he hasn't been himself. In the beginning of the year he started to have seizures 3 times a week. He became super lethargic and frail. We took Eugene to a neurologist and she found a large mass in Eugene's brain. She diagnosed Eugene with an Auto Immune Encephalitis. Multiple meds were prescribed to help with his seizures. Unfortunately that's not all, in the beginning of February, a new concerned presented itself. He started showing signs of pain on his spine and back legs and he was having a hard time standing straight and even walking. Of course, this led to yet another emergency visit. The doctor that saw him thinks he might've hurt his back during one of the seizures. So more meds were prescribed to help with his pain and he was put on a strict 4 week bed rest. We still don't know what can be done to help Eugene recover. Right now, all we can do is to keep Eugene pain free.. It's going to be a long and ongoing road for us. We are trying to get him back to his adventurous, basketball loving self.
As much as possible Jason and I tried to avoid asking for any help from our friends and family mainly because we thought we can handle this ourselves but the burden of the financial strain is starting to weigh heavily on us. As you can imagine we are emotional wrecks. I don't wish this type of worry on anyone. He's our baby. I'm there are plenty of people who can relate... Eugene will continue to need medical attention until he can get back to his normal self. Anything you can donate will be a huge help for us. We appreciate each and everyone of our friends and family who has supported and check in on Eugene since the start of all this. We will definitely keep everyone updated on his recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
