Hi Everyone.
Our dad, Gene, is currently in University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He is fighting for his life. He called me Sunday night saying he didn’t feel good and called 911. He coded for the EMS squad and was rushed to Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. After multiple rounds of CPR , intubated and shocked multiple times, he was revived and sent to SRMC in Lima. He miraculously started responding to us which was a miracle. He was making progress and extubated on Tuesday 3/21. The follow day, on Wednesday 3/22 he coded again after he was taken off of a pertinent medication, and went into a lethal heart rhythm called torsades de pointe. He was then given cpr and attempted shocks to revive him, which was a success. He was re-intubated and the decision was made to fly him to University Hospital in Cleveland, OH who specializes in cardiogenic shock. He is currently fighting for his life, still ventilated and is miraculously still coherent and following commands when he is trialed off of his sedation for a few minutes each day. If you know this man, you know he is a fighter. He has the will to live and wants to be able to watch his grandchildren grow up. He lost his wife 24 years ago and has overcame many struggles in his life but has always kept a positive attitude. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. The man still delivers meals to the “elderly” even though he is 78 years old himself.
If you know us kids, we are one and the same just like him. We rarely ask for help in our times of need, but I have felt the need to speak out and please ask now during this trying time.
We are all currently in Cleveland, making our own means to stay up here, 10 minutes from the hospital, but this is going to be a long road. We are going to have to juggle going back to work during all of this and managing our families. I ask for help for medical expenses for our dad, but for us as well during this time.
Please pray for our Dad and our families. He is SO strong and deserves a miracle, and so do we.
Thank you for any support possible.
