Eugene “Gene, Geno” Cachenaut was a loving husband, son, brother and friend. He was suddenly taken from us on Sunday morning, October 28th. Gene passed peacefully. He is survived by his wife Shannon and his son Tanner. Gene was loved by so many and was a pillar in the community. He touched the hearts of many people. Gene was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Berlin to help supervise the Wall coming down, which was a proud moment for Gene and our country's history. Gene’s father was a first generation immigrant that came from the Basque region in France. Gene was extremely proud of he and his father's roots and took up the reins as a leader in the Basque community of Southern California. Gene also volunteered his time and was a board member with The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 483. He loved scouting and took great interest in showing his son and his son’s scouting peers how to be a top-notch scout. Gene, along with his wife Shannon, volunteered their time with the Glendora High School Football Boosters, as their son Tanner just finished his freshmen season. Gene loved watching his son play football and would do anything to help the program succeed. Gene was a graduate of South Hills High School in West Covina and Cal Poly, Pomona. When Gene was not working or volunteering he cherished spending time with his family, hiking and golfing with his friends. Gene will be greatly missed. He was an “impact” person whose leadership, knowledge, loyalty and integrity rubbed off on all that surrounded him.

Gene was passionate about providing for his family, and while we can never replace him, we hope to honor his incredible legacy by providing financial assistance for his wife Shannon as she struggles to move forward and provide for herself and Tanner. Shannon, a positive light for those around her, is compassionate, kind, loving and generous. She has spent countless hours volunteering and helping others.

In times of deep grief, when hearts are breaking, her financial responsibilities will continue to, and unfortunately, grow. All donations we collect will be given directly to Shannon to provide financial comfort and security as she grieves and plans for her and Tanner's future. In addition to financial support please share your memories below honoring Gene’s life.
