Planned Parenthood is so much more than just an abortion clinic!!! It's a place where women can go to receive affordable health care! They provide so many services such as: mammograms, annual checkups, cancer screening, and so much more at a lesser cost! Garfield County Commissioners can cut whatever funds they want without seeing the effect it has on the public! Lets pull together as a community and show them that WE are in charge of our own health decisions! $1,500.00 is the amount that the government decided that planned parenthood in Garfield County would not receive. So, that is the amount we are hoping to raise, if not more. We are our own health advocates! I am a woman, HEAR MY VOICE! Politicians are not in charge of my health decisions or yours! My name is Ashley Johnson, I currently reside in Carbondale, Colorado, and I work at the local pharmacy as a technician. I decided to open this campaign to help raise money for the Garfield county planned parenthood after reading an article in the local paper discussing the funds that were cut by the county commissioners. Every penny earned here will be donated to the Garfield county planned parenthood minus the fees for gofundme website. I have been in communication with Jennifer hunter , who is the director of annual funding for planned parenthood out of the Denver office. All funds will be deposited into a special donations account with Wells Fargo by november 16th. On the morning of November 16th I will go close the account, and the bank will issue me a cashiers check. On november 16 at 11:00 A.M. I invite everyone to come to the glenwoood springs planned parenthood health center to wittness the exchange of the check! Its not much of a planned event, but i know that there are many donors that want to be there! I encourage all donors and the public to follow this story to the end. Everything will be recorded, documented, and posted here-- photos included of the check exchange as well! I will also be meeting with rebecca Murray- the health center manager on Monday November 16th to meet the staff, and learn about the many services offered at our local office!
