Hello! My name is Jen Morales and I am from Boyle Heights, California.
I am one of six children, with two older sisters who will also be attending college in the fall. I aspire to become a pediatrician and work in a low-income community. I love children as I spent the majority of my life raising my younger brothers and babysitting to make enough money to pay for my own clothes and school supplies. This past March, I was admitted to my dream school, UC Berkeley! I will be attending this upcoming fall as an Environmental Science major, first generation student, and the first in my family to attend a 4 year university.
I recently graduated high school with High Honors and multiple awards such as the “Soy Inteligente Scholar” medal given to me by board member Monica Garcia. This award was given to me as a form of recognition for making a positive difference in my community and challenging myself academically, along with demonstrating strong leadership skills. Throughout my four years in high school, I involved myself around campus as an active member of the swim team, ASB Secretary, a peer counselor, a member of VOA Upward Bound, a member in The Women in Entertainment 2018 cohort, and took part in multiple AP and college courses. As a student council officer, I took part in leading our student body toward a more safe, empowered, and fun campus experience for all students. In college, I hope to further my involvement in helping other students whilst familiarizing myself in the new environment and community, helping with what I can. I also hope to find a Chicanx organization that works to empower the minority community.
In hopes of accomplishing my dream of becoming a pediatrician, I created this GoFundMe account. Kindly, I ask of any possible donors to join me in pursuing a life full of opportunities that will not only aid my family and I but also aid other families and their ill children. I will be attending UC Berkeley on a scholarship, though it does not cover certain things such as school and dorm supplies, books, and other necessities. I worked at H&M this summer in order to try and save what I could, but it wasn’t enough. I appreciate any donations that will go towards my education and thank everyone who took the time out of their busy lives to hear me out and support my dream.
Love Always,
Jen Morales
