Leeds To Leigh Double Marathon (52.4 mile)

On 21st April 2023 Dale Turton & James Pickles will be running 52.4 mile in one day from Headingley Stadium in Leeds (Home of Leeds Rhinos) to Leigh Sports Village (Home of Leigh Leopards). During this Run they will encounter a 1,000 metre incline which is the equivalent height of Mount Snowdon.

They are raising money to help support Royal Manchester children’s hospital.

James’ Nephew Jaxon, went to A&E with neck pain. Just two days later, on Christmas Day, the family were given the devastating news that Jaxon had four brain tumours.

Three days later The amazing staff at Manchester children’s hospital proceeded with his first 11.5 hour surgery to remove 95% of 3 out of the 4 tumours. At the time of writing, Jaxon is receiving his 3rd cycle of Chemotherapy.

James & Dale are Raising money to enhance the experience of the 280,000 children cared for by Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital each and every year.

The money raised will be invested into treatment, research and care. These can include the purchase of specialist equipment to diagnose and provide treatment for young patients more quickly and easily, creating as child-friendly an environment as possible and funding pioneering medical research to increase the understanding of children’s illnesses and the optimum way to treat them.

This is a hospital we all hope we never have to use, but when we need it, Royal Manchester Children’s hospital will be there to help.
