Refugees are men, women and children fleeing war, persecution and political upheaval who have crossed borders to seek safety in another country. Most eventually go home when it's safe, some stay in temporary refugee settlements, and a tiny fraction resettle in third country, such as the U.S.
The United States has a long tradition of offering refuge to those fleeing persecution and war. However, the current administration, citing unfounded security concerns, put a travel ban in place, slashed refugee arrivals to their lowest levels ever, and separated families while criminalizing desperate people seeking asylum.
My Story:
I'm a 28-year-old female, and I just recently met my bio-mother and brothers two years ago. So meeting these people that I've never known, and watching how they act, what they like, and the overall sense of feeling like I'm home is unlike anything I've ever felt before. When I visit them, we notice the little similarities we share. That feeling is indescribable.
My birth mother was always talked about as an amazing, mature, beautiful and strong 18-year-old that gave me up because she knew she couldn't provide for me. I ate it up like candy. There was always this horrible fear of being abandoned throughout my entire life. I had a wonderful loving family but I always mourned the fact that no one understood my tendency towards anxiety and depression. Just recently I contacted her. I collapsed in tears on the floor. She sounded so familiar somehow. I called her and we talked and cried. I had 5 wonderful half-siblings,I consider myself lucky. I now have a brother and a sister that I never knew about. I have a relationship with my bloodline that I've never had the chance to until now.
NOTHING more I want then reconnect again. Since I had the opportunity to go visit them twice in UGANDA, I would love them to have them same opportunity to visit me in America. It is very difficult to bring them to America: 4 VISA, documents, legal fees, travel expense (tickets, hotels, ect). Help me raise the money to get me my family back together.
Not one too ask for help but here goes if this is something that is dear to your heart like it is to me maybe you or friend could help. Even if it is just a prayer or good thought. My sister and brother would be more than great full. So I thought I would try this way with a lot of prayers and good positive thought I might be able to go see my family again and provide for them. There are not enough words or prayers for you taking the time out to read this here life story. I thank you for your time.
We love our family! And, even when people are adopted, well, family is family. Always, longing for home.
Thank you for your kindness.
