Ethiopia - Medical Supplies Support

Hello everyone,

 

My name is Sirak Takele and I will be traveling to Ethiopia during the first week of January 2022.

 

Context

 

As many of you may or may not know, the ongoing conflict in the Northern region of Ethiopia has resulted in the displacement of millions of civilians and the destruction of many healthcare facilities. Many innocent civilians have been injured, as they have been caught in the crossfire.

 

Purpose & People Involved

 

I have set up this fundraiser to raise money for medical supplies. I have been coordinating with people on the ground in Ethiopia such as Fikade Haile - Point of Contact for Gondar University Hospital - , fellow diasporas from the US, and locals in Ethiopia to deliver medical supplies to hospitals in areas such as Kombolcha, Dessie, Mersa and Gashena.

 

In an effort to alleviate some of the losses that the medical facilities have sustained, as a result of the conflict, along with the innocent civilians who are unable to receive proper care, the items I will be purchasing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia include, but are not limited too:

 

 

Process

 

- The money raised will be deposited to my US bank account and transferred into my Ethiopian Diaspora account in Ethiopia. I will then withdraw the money from the bank to be converted into Birr.

- Items will be purchased during the first few days of my visit in Addis

- Travel to the mentioned areas

- Deliver the supplies to the medical facilities

I will be departing to Ethiopia on January 1st, 2022. This fundraiser will remain live and accept donations until December 30th, 2021.
