2015 CCCX Race 2, Ft. Ord, California
Hello! My name is Ethan Karp, and I am a freshman at Alameda High School this year. My Go Fund Me campaign is an attempt to raise funds for a new training bicycle. Let me explain why:
This year will be my first year participating in the Norcal High School Cycling league in California. I have been very competitive as a youth racer so far in my cycling career, having placed first (twice), second, and fourth (three times) in regional races with up to 50 participants. As high school races have up to 75 participants, I have been training extremely hard in the off- season to get a spot on the podium.
This brings me to the point of all this. My long term goal is to race in the 2020 Olympics. To do this, I need a training bike. Between training and racing for both high school and regional races, the strain will be too much for my race bike and I can’t afford to have it damaged. So I am trying to raise funds to purchase a used training bike.
This is an expensive dream. I have already put almost all of my savings into this. But nobody said it would be easy. Any amount you are willing to donate would be greatly appreciated!! If you are able to donate, I will personally send you reports of my progress and milestones as I make the march from the Norcal Championship, to the National Championship, and eventually the U.S. Cup and Olympics! And of course, discounts on all autographs (just kidding, they’ll be free).
