On Sunday, 2nd August, our beautiful nephew Ethan’s life changed forever while doing what he loves most – riding his dirt bike.

Following a devastating accident, Ethan was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he initially spent time in the Intensive Care Unit with a severe spinal injury. He suffered a fracture to his L1 vertebra, and surgeons performed a major operation to fuse his spine from T11 to L3 using eight screws and two metal rods.

Although Ethan has already shown incredible strength and determination, this is only the beginning of a long and challenging road ahead. After spending some time in ICU, Ethan has now been transferred to the ward and will soon begin months of intensive rehabilitation at a specialist rehabilitation hospital in Kew.

As you can imagine, this has turned Ethan and his family’s world upside down. Right now, Luke and Jess’s only focus is being by Ethan’s side every step of the way as he begins the difficult journey towards recovery. The emotional, physical and financial impact of such a life-changing injury is overwhelming.

We’re hoping to raise funds to help ease some of the financial pressure during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go towards supporting Ethan and his family with everyday living expenses, travel to and from the hospital, accommodation when needed, meals, rehabilitation costs, equipment, and the many unexpected expenses that come with a long hospital stay and recovery.
