Ethan's fundraiser for Kenya

Hi, my name is Ethan (14) and I am raising money for a once in a life time expedition to Kenya in 2027 with Camps International.

This action-packed and meaningful African adventure will take me from the savannahs of Tsavo, teeming with Kenya’s top wildlife, to the white-sand beaches of Diani where I’ll learn to explore the underwater world.

Throughout my time in Kenya I’ll get involved in a range of projects, helping to support education and community development in two rural communities. I'll become part of the community as I live and work alongside local people, learning about the challenges faced by local people as well as the rich tradition and culture of Kenya. Throughout my expedition, I’ll get up close to some truly incredible wildlife – trying to spot some of the Big 5 on land and scuba dive alongside colourful marine life as I undertake my PADI Open Water Dive qualification in the glistening Indian Ocean.

This adventure is more than a journey – it’s a chance to make a positive impact while developing essential life skills like financial management, communication and conservation practices. But before I dive into the Indian Ocean, I face an equally ambitious goal: raising £5000 to support my journey.

What Is Camp Kenya and How Will I Help?

Camp Kenya is part of Camps International, an award-winning social enterprise that runs ethical and sustainable volunteering programmes around the world. Their projects are designed to tackle real issues faced by rural communities — and I’ll be right there, getting involved.

Here’s how I’ll be making a difference:

Building and renovating classrooms so children can learn in safe, dry spaces.

Improving access to clean water and promoting hygiene.

Planting trees and restoring habitats to support the local environment and wildlife.

Working hand-in-hand with the local community, learning their culture, sharing experiences, and developing lifelong skills.

How will I fundraise?

As some of you may know, I am passionate about kickboxing and boxing and they are sports I have trained for since I was 5 years old.

To raise money, I will be taking part in a sponsored kickboxing fight later on in 2025. This will invlove intensive training to ensure I am the best I can be.

I will also be taking part a day of sporting events including running, skipping, sparring and cycling.

As well as other fundraisers including car washing, gardening, dog walking, etc.

Any donation you can make would make a huge difference and would mean so much to me. I will keep you updated on my progress and anything I take part in in the lead up to my kickboxing event.
