Ethan's Journey to Surgery for 8th Time
Donation protected
Ethan’s journey to 7 years old is rougher than most will ever endure. This remarkable young man has undergone 7 brain surgeries, with the 8th looming. Ethan was born with Hydrocephalus which requires a tube inserted into his skull to drain the fluids. Sadly, he will return to western Washington this week to undergo more testing as his pain is becoming unbearable. The tube is not draining properly and an 8th surgery will be required to correct the issue. This will hopefully get Ethan on the road to recovery, so he can live like a typical young child. I met Ethan when he came to volunteer at our shop with his mother Lynn, a day in which we were creating warm clothes for homeless youth.
Lynn works at Dishman Hills School with students that are couch surfing or homeless. She provides many services ranging from counseling to making sure the students are being fed and clothed. Her devotion in making the students feel like their efforts are not being overlooked and that someone is standing behind them and building a foundation that they are currently missing. She has dedicated many sleepless hours during the holidays to prepare food for these students at her own cost or with minimal donations. Lynn is truly a devoted person to her students. Immediately following Christmas, Ethan began experiencing pain and Lynne had to take Ethan to Seattle for testing. Lynn keeps going strong, fighting for her family and students. I'm so lucky to have met Lynn. She is a great inspiration because of her devotion to others, while personally struggling with her own family’s medical situation.
As we all know, insurance covers the medical portion, but the family is enduring thousands of dollars of additional costs in travel, lodging, and meals. Lynn is not one to reach out for assistance, she is a very strong lady that feels the need to always be giving. I’m reaching out to campaign a small amount of financial assistance to help with all the added expenses, loss of work pay, and give her and her family the heartfelt love that she devotes to so many others.
Ethan and Lynn have to travel over to Seattle for MRI later this week and they could be there for a while pending the outcome. Her husband will be left behind to work and keep the household continuing on while they are reduced to one income. This will allow Lynn to be by Ethan’s side. Any funds raised will go directly to the family.
Please find it in your hearts to donate and give positive thoughts to Ethan and family during these trying times. Every little bit helps!
