Hi friends! Ethan’s Mom. Still at CHOP dealing with Ethan’s AML leukemia. We are starting round #5!! He has dealt with all the side effects and complications from chemo like a warrior. At 14 he has shown me what strength, resilience, patience and determination are all about ~ and all from his hospital bed.
From the moment Ethan processed the word cancer and told me in a strong, no uncertain terms voice about it, “Mom, God’s got us!”(while holding MY hand), I knew it was my job to be his cheerleader and hold HIS hand through the tough days ahead…
I’ve had the privilege to watch him mature and handle everything thrown at him from 2 hour nose bleeds with blood clots, losing his hair and going bald, mouth sores, lumbar punctures, a lung biopsy as well as other biopsies, burning eye drops, a broviac, fungal pneumonia, a chest tube and everything in between.
Many of you have offered support in so many ways it’s been an incredible gift to see the blessings pour out. Ethan, Jack and I are seriously wowed everyday!
This GoFundMe page was set up because so many of you were asking how you could financially support us. You’ve read our ongoing journey and we greatly appreciate your encouragement and support.
Since mid April I had to take FMLA because my district went to hybrid learning and I couldn’t take care of Ethan and teach in person at the same time. Anticipating the Fall and knowing that my FMLA would run out and Ethan still wouldn’t be finished with chemo I decided to see how God would work through you - and He has.
The financial support you have given us goes to so many things that help us as I’m not able to teach right now. Gas, food, medical bills, household expenses and now medical insurance (COBRA) are not so much a stress as you continue to bless us.
COBRA insurance is $1,700 a month for me and the boys (something I never thought I’d have to worry about since I’ve been teaching for 20 years!) and because of your friendship, prayers and financial support I’m SO thankful we were able to raise that amount.
Unfortunately the world outside of our cancer diagnosis doesn’t stop. Your help and support keeps us on the path of “normal” so bills can get paid and that’s one less thing to worry about.
We appreciate you all SO much and are thankful for your continued love and support along this journey and we look forward to seeing how God works because God is good…all the time!
