Ethan Holmes Eagle Project

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Ethan Holmes, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 55 which is Boy Scout Troop run through the St. John the Divine Church in Houston, Texas. I currently go to River Oaks Baptist School, and I will be attending St. John’s School in the fall as a freshman. I have been in scouts since I was in 1st Grade as a Tiger Cub in Cub Scouts. As a Boy Scout, I have spent countless hours working my way through the Boy Scout ranks to achieve the rank of Life Scout.

As a Life Scout, one of the requirements to receive the rank of Eagle Scout is to conduct an Eagle Scout Project. An Eagle Scout Project is a project planned and run by a current Life Scout benefiting an organization other than Boy Scouts. The scout in charge of the project must show leadership throughout the entire process.

For my Eagle Project, I am collecting children's books (for ages 2-5), sorting these books, and building bookshelves to create a children’s library for SEARCH Homeless Services. I am working with their House of Tiny Treasures, which is a preschool/daycare for children that have been or are currently homeless. At the school, students are given the opportunity to have breakfast and lunch plus each room has its own special design such as animals or outer space. Now, they will have a library where they can go to pick out a book to read. I chose this project because of my profound love of reading, and I want to give all kids the opportunity to grow their love of reading just like I did.

A project like mine needs funds, and my project has a very hefty price. I am hoping to raise $3,000 to cover the cost of my project. I must buy all of the kits for the library bookshelves and mobile library cart, rent a U-Haul truck for delivery to House of Tiny Treasures, and get all of the miscellaneous building supplies needed for the execution days to run smoothly. I plan on building the bookshelves during one full day and delivering and organizing the library space on another day.

Any donation you can make would mean a lot to me. You may donate as little or as much as you would like, and no donation is too small. Your donations will be used to help young kids have the opportunity to read which will put a smile on their face.

In the event that I raise more money than I need, any unused money will be given directly to House of Tiny Treasures.
