Who would of thought what tomorrow brought for Ethen Holland and our family. Our 12 year old grandson Ethen Holland has been fighting for his life for the last week. Last Tuesday Ethen went to a doctors appointment because he coughed up a small amount of blood. He explained to the doctor that his eyes get bloodshot and his feet get purplish in color at times. The doctor did a chest X-ray and sent him home thinking it was nozzle dryness. The next day his parents received a call from the radiology department. They needed Ethen to get an ekg immediately. Within 2 minutes they told Stephanie and Matt to pack their bags and take Ethen straight to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Mi. That’s when Ethen started the battle for his life. He’s had several surgeries and procedures to save his life. While putting him on the life support machine (it works as his heart and lungs to keep him alive) he coded out twice. Thank god for his great doctors and nurses that brought him back to us. Today the scare continued both of his lungs collapsed and. the heart was failing. They inserted an artery line to relieve some of the pulmonary hypertension. After surgery the doctor’s were able to achieve getting his pressure cut in half. Which is great news for Ethen! If he stabilizes he can make it to the lung transplant center in St. Louis Mo. The current life support machine is so large that they are trying to get a smaller machine from Germany to keep him alive during the helicopter ride. It’s never been used before in the United. States. Fingers crossed it could be here by Friday. Stephanie and Matt is going to encounter several expenses for medical, lodge, travel and food. I’m asking anyone who’s able to donate any amount of money to please help our children and most importantly ETHEN so his parents can be by his side. It’s definitely hard time’s right now so it’s completely understandable if your not able too. I would just ask that you send lots of love and prayers. Ethen needs a miracle moment! Thank you and we appreciate anything you can do! Please take a moment and give hugs and kisses to those you love because you never know what tomorrow will bring.
