Ethan was born on June 23, 2008 and everything seemed perfectly normal. Approximately 8hrs after the birth, the hospital staff informed Jamie that something was wrong with Ethan and she should get Jeremy back to the hospital immediately. After many tests, doctors told them that Ethan had a CHD or Congenital Heart Defect and more specifically Tetralogy of Fallot and Pulmonary Artesia. They were getting the helicopter ready to transfer Ethan to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. 10 days later Ethan had his first open heart surgery. Ethan did great and was home just a couple weeks later but that was short lived. He was home for not even a week and something was really wrong again and no one could figure out just what it was. He was taken by ambulance back down to Milwaukee and on the way, his chest opened up and he was really sick. Couple days later and he was having another open heart surgery. This time recovery was much harder and he went home with iv meds for over a month.
Ethan is now 12 years old and has grown up to be such an optimistic, smart and athletic boy. His CHD had not slowed him down until recently. He just found out last week that his heart is working too hard and his Right Ventricle is too big and he needs another open heart surgery on July 17, 2020.
As Ethan and his family prepare for this upcoming surgery and road to recovery, the medical bills are already beginning to add up.
