Ethan Chipping Jr Men's Team USA Trip
Donation protected
Many of you may already be aware that Ethan was selected to join the 2019 USA Inline Hockey Team, Jr Mens division at the World Roller Games June 26th - July 4th in Barcelona, Spain!
We are so excited for this opportunity for Ethan to represent the United States while playing the game he loves more than anything!
A portion of the cost is being covered through USA Roller Sports and some fundraising, but the difference must be funded by the players and families. Ethan is still finshing up a busy high school junior year, but also working in his spare time between practices, doing odd jobs for friends and neighbors to earn some of the funds needed, but he needs some help towards the travel and meal cost of his Spain trip. Contributions received will go towards these expenses.
Mom is traveling to Spain too - no way she could miss this exciting honor for Ethan! - and has her trip costs to cover as well. So any help you are willing to give is very appreciated, no matter the size.
Background:
Ethan has spent countless hours - thousands of hours - at the rink (our home away from home), both roller and ice, developing his skills and in game play since he was 4 years old. His first travel roller team was at age 8 with the then, Dreamsports Dragons organization.
There have been numerous tournaments where he has competed in 2 age divisions, demonstrating not only his endurance and stamina, but his love and passion for the game. He just can't get enough! Beginning in 2010, he hit the national scene, competing in roller hockey national events like State Wars, Torhs 2H4I and NARCh, winning numerous team medals and individual awards. In 2018, his Konixx Raleigh Speed team won the Gold in the Torhs 2Hot4Ice National tournament, while Ethan took the top honors in their Skills Competition for the Fastest Skater and the 2 v 2 events.

Ethan has also been part of the RYHA Junior Hurricanes organization playing AAA travel ice hockey for the last 6 years. In addition to playing with the Junior Hurricanes AAA PeeWee, Bantam and Midget teams, other ice hockey honors include 2014 Junior Hurricanes PeeWee team selection for the PeeWee World Championship in Quebec, Canada, as well as selection to the USA Hockey Southeast District Development Camp in 2016.

All these achievements were possible beyond the challenges that Ethan has experienced in life. Ethan was born with an eye defect in his right eye, requiring 2 surgeries before age 3. Then at age 4, that same eye was tragically injured - shot with an airsoft gun. (Yes, it really can shoot your eye out, or in Ethan's case, put a nasty gash in it!) Even with glasses, contacts, vision therapy, his vision will always be limited in that eye. Ethan also manages a disability requiring medication on and off the rink. Definitely not easy when medication side effects are worse some days than others. Despite these challenges, Ethan gets out there and still finds success and enjoyment in his hockey anyway!
Thank you!
And before all this transpired, before he even skated one stride out there on the rink, Ethan sat in his little stroller at less than a year old, watching his older brother practice and play hockey. In no time at all, he was running around the rink with his little mini hockey stick and ball, anxiously waiting for the day he could strap on those skates and get out there himself! We owe so much thanks and gratitude to Ethan's brother for setting the example in hockey, as well as to all the many coaches, teammates, hockey parents, family and friends along the way who have pushed, encouraged, and supported Ethan in his many hockey pursuits! We wish him and Team USA lots of luck at the World Roller Games! Go USA!
