Ethan and Lauren Need Your Help Now

Ethan and Lauren Ulrich just welcomed their first child last year, and now Lauren is experiencing health issues postpartum. Lauren was diagnosed with a Chiari
Malformation 1 back in December of 2024 after going to a neurologist postpartum with potential seizure activity. They ruled seizures out, but during her MRI found a Chiari with a 16mm herniation of the tonsil of my brain. This means her brain and brain stem have been forced through the hole in the base of her skull where the spine connects to the skull. The surgery she has on Thursday, March 27th, is a foramen magnum decompression surgery with a duraplasty and a possibility for a tonsillectomy. They will be removing a piece of her skull and C1 vertebrae and harvesting a piece of skin from further up on her head to patch into the membrane that covers her brain and allow for more space not only to prevent further damage but to alleviate the pressure being put on my brain and brain stem. The
1/2 tonsillectomy, while a rare possibility, means they could remove a piece of the brain tonsil to provide more space if needed.
Updates: Thursday March 27
Lauren went in for surgery this morning and the doctors said it will be about 4-5 hours. She should possibly be able to go home Friday or Saturday
Friday March 28
Laura's surgery yesterday went well. This morning, she is in quite a lot of pain, so they are just managing that right now and keeping her comfortable. Ethan has not left her side. They are very thankful for all of the love support and donations.
