Hello! It’s Palmira from vivalapalma productions ! We are developing our very first comedy genre project, a proof of concept for our original feature film, Winnie & Jenay’s Cross Cuntry Adventure. This is a film about two best friends turned enemies finding their way from New York to Arizona, as they take a crazy road trip to attend their 20 year high school reunion. The purpose of a proof of concept is to simply showcase the tone and character profile of the full feature length, in order to show potential investors, financiers, audiences, and producers the vision of the feature film, in order to acquire funding and collaboration to produce the full movie.
The proof of concept, along with the feature film, will be made in a very DIY style, with just the help from my production company, and local crew from Arizona, such as Arizonan cinematographer Kosi Oshodi-Glover, and the POC is already cast, starring up and coming talent, Toni Nezey and Alex Campos. At its core, WJCCA is a comedy about friendship, reconciliation, finding oneself and celebrating body diversity, themes that I want to showcase through the lens of Black & Afro Latina millennial women.
Currently, We are in pre-production, with the last steps are to lock in location where we will be filming in March of 2026. Our main funding source at the moment is an artist’s grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, a grant of $1500, which has been allocated to paying for talent travel and lodging. We are currently developing a crowdfunding campaign for the rest of the budget, our need is $5000. With the 5k, we’d be able to obtain production insurance, payment for the crew’s hard work, BTS footage and content creation, film festival submission fees, and editing / coloring fees.
