FUNDRAISER for a CURE 4 DEGENERATIVE MYELOPATHY (DM)

You can make a difference by donating today to Cure4DM.

My name is Graham Everson and as many know I support the UK DM Fundraisers who raise donations for the Cure4DM Charity to fund research for treatments and a cure for canine Degenerative Myelopathy. DM is a devastating, terminal disease affecting many different breeds of dogs. I participated in the Ride London for over 5 years, which no longer exists, so, THIS YEAR ...I am venturing up to Scotland for the Etape Loch Ness which is taking place on: SUNDAY 27 APRIL 2025 to help this fantastic charity raise much needed funds for research and their 'Wheels loan service'.

The Etape Loch Ness is Scotland’s largest closed road cycle sportive taking place around iconic Loch Ness offering the chance to cycle 66 miles (106 km) on traffic free roads. The stunning 360° route around the loch starts and finishes in the Highland capital of Inverness with 900m of ascent.

About Cure4DM
Now a registered Charity (reg. no. 1206120), it is the only UK charity dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for the terminal disease of Canine Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). They raise funding for existing and new research where ever that may be, just as the former U.S based foundation did for over a decade. They also generate awareness about DM and support owners with information and education about the disease. Recently, they have been joined by Professor Clare Rusbridge, one of the UK's leading Veterinary Neurologists, as their Patron and Research Advisor. Clare has world recognition for her outstanding contribution to research and the veterinary world.

With this expertise, dedication and your fantastic support with fund raising, they are passionate about putting an end to this heartbreaking, terminal disease that can affect so many of our beloved companions.

Why am I doing this -
Kathryn, my wife and I witnessed the effect of Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) in our own lives, after losing our beautiful GSD, Saxa to it in 2014. Caring for a dog with DM leaves a lasting impact on you. We then wanted to do as much as we could to help support others. In 2016, Kathryn set up the UK 'Wheels To Help Me', loan service. A fantastic service that loans out donated Dog Wheelchairs and other mobility aids to help owners of dogs with DM. Shortly after, she set up the 'UK DM Fundraisers' FB group' a wonderful group of supporters, who raise funds for Cure4DM and support the UK 'Wheels to Help Me' service.

About DM-
DM is a degenerative spinal cord disease, usually affecting older dogs from the age of 8, similar to ALS and/or Primary Progressive MS in humans, characterised by progressive hind limb and eventual front limb paralysis, ultimately it is a fatal disease with devastating consequences for the dogs and very distressing for owners caring for them. DM itself though is not painful. With care, dedication and support many dogs can continue to have a good 'quality of life' for the time they have left, especially if they have mobility aids to help them.

Please help support my cause with whatever amount you can and Together we can make a difference !
