On January 8, 2025, our dear brother Steve's life changed forever when a house fire left him with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 30-40% of his body. The fire also rendered his home unlivable, leaving him without a place to stay.

Steve spent a month at Kendall Regional Trauma Center, undergoing multiple skin graft surgeries and enduring constant pain— a pain that continues to this day, making even simple tasks and restful sleep a daily struggle. While he’s now able to walk slowly and live somewhat independently, he still needs help daily to change his bandages and clean his wounds—a process that takes over an hour. The painkillers and anesthesia have also taken a toll on his mental health, making recovery even harder.

Since February, Steve has been in temporary housing, but he’ll need to move out by the end of the month. With no home and mounting medical bills, he’s facing a tough road ahead.
