PLEASE HELP JACK CLIFT Live to the End Comfortably

Hi, my name is Jessica Clift, daughter of Jack Clift.

My father was officially diagnosed with Huntington's Disease in April 2016. The disease has progressed and robbed his ability to be independent.

My father went into the hospital on September 14th, 2023 and has been in an adult family home since the end of October.

Since he has transitioned to the home, he continues to decline and is now unable to walk or get out of bed. To make it worse, he is in constant pain. On a good day we can get the pain level down to a 6 with the help of lidocaine creme and patches applied to his neck and knees. The prescription only covers 1 patch per day but he requires 2-3 so we are purchasing additional patches over-the-counter.

Doctors are trying to pinpoint the root of the pain, causing the inability to walk. There's been talk of prostate cancer that could be metastasized in the bone and there's also talk of cancer in the GI track. Last week we went in for a bone scan to check for bone cancer. This was done instead of a biopsy. The care team is unsure of how to approach this due to my father being fragile so the situation is complicated. He is currently 130lbs. If he tests positive for cancer, his body would not be able to handle chemotherapy.

DSHS allows a personal needs allowance of $100/month. This is NOT enough to cover his needs. Medicare/medicaid does not cover the following:

*Medicare/Medicaid covers the traditional protein drinks i.e. Ensure. Those are 200 calories less per serving. He requires 3 per day!

As of now, I am just trying to do my best to advocate for him, spend as much time with him as I can, make sure he's as comfortable as possible and love on him.

And hope for the best. He deserves it.
