Juggles for Justice

Tax deductible
Let’s face it: times have been better.  There are several major issues in the world and in America today, perhaps none more serious than the coronavirus pandemic and societal oppression based on, among other things, race and gender.  While many may view these as mutually exclusive topics, there is actually a great deal of intersectionality between the two, as communities of color are more likely to be affected by COVID-19, and, in turn, the virus perpetuates the unfair disparities between different groups.  But we have the power to make a difference.

We are raising money for Get Us PPE, a non-profit organization affiliated with Affirm Research that specializes in connecting life-saving protective equipment to people in areas with the greatest need and fewest resources — all free of charge. Get Us PPE fulfills our goals of supporting social justice and making an impact on communities in need.

Soccer is the world’s most popular sport by far, with millions, if not billions, of players and fans worldwide.  Right now, you are probably wondering, “What does this have to do with solving the most pressing issues in today’s society?”  Well, by utilizing the power and popularity of the greatest sport on Earth, we can raise money and awareness.

As almost anyone who has ever played soccer can attest, juggling is an extremely important ball control exercise, which can be improved by simply practicing.  Juggles for Justice is based on the same fundraising concept a walk-a-thon, but instead of walking, you will be juggling a soccer ball.

It just takes four easy steps:

1.       Pick how much money you will donate per juggle.  If you are a very advanced player, I would recommend between 1 and 10 cents.  However, if you are an intermediate player, it should be between 10 cents and 1 dollar, and if you are a beginner, 1 dollar or higher would be great.

2.       Perform as many juggles as you can consecutively without dropping the ball.  I would recommend a few tries, as you will likely need to warm up in order to get the best results.

3.       Donate.  You will need to multiply the number of juggles you performed by the amount you are donating per juggle.

4.       Spread the word.  Invite teammates, family members, friends, etc., to participate either by juggling themselves or donating in support of your juggles.  This step is crucial in order for this fundraiser to gain traction and truly make an impact.

Not only will you be raising money for an amazing organization that is committed to making an impact, but, as an added bonus, you will be improving your soccer skills and gaining bragging rights over your friends.  So start juggling!
