A Vehicle for a New Beginning

Donation protected
I was in a car accident in March of 2024 that resulted in significant injuries which ultimately led to paralysis. It was a freak accident- I blacked out for some unknown reason (this has never happened before and doctors were stumped on what caused my blackout). Never had a blackout prior and haven't had one since. Due to my current situation of being newly paralyzed, I am having to rely on medical transportation which ultimately rarely works out because I live about 30 minutes from the closet city in central Louisiana. And because of the lack of cooperation from my insurance regarding medical transportation, I have missed much needed wound care appointments, pain management appointments, and even just attempting at living a normal life. I am trying to strengthen my upper body to help aid myself in transporting from my chair to my bed. I have to rely on others for everyday essentials and it sucks not being able to leave my house. Watching others live their lives sucks for me. Finding work is difficult because of my location-even working from home has been a challenge as we've had to renovate our house so I can safely enter and exit. Renting vans just for me to have a day out is expensive and I can't keep asking my family to do that because we rely on a single income. SSI doesn't pay much. We've attempted government programs but nothing has happened except for promises that never came.

I lost my job, future, dreams, the use of my legs...I lost my independence. It's heartbreaking and I know there's others out there in much worse conditions however this is something I know will help me and my family out- a vehicle so I can make my appointments and do the things that need to be done like eventually go back into the work force.

We are going into debt and my partner is trying to save as much as she can even with a large pay cut as her company underwent budget cuts just these last few months. It's hard out there for everyone and I understand that so, if you are able to give we would very much appreciate it. This would be a huge burden off of our shoulders.

We are reaching out in hopes my story will make a difference and show that being on disability and on medicaid is draining both my mental and physical health. Eventually, everything will be okay in the long run and I will give back to those in need when I am able to.

Thank you- if you made it this far and simply just read what I wrote, I still appreciate you listening. ☺️
