Hello, my name is Brian Staas. I’m heartbroken to share that my best friend in this world, Albert, was tragically taken from us far too soon.

Albert and his wife were attacked in their home in the middle of the night. Albert, a retired firefighter for the city of Vineland NJ who dedicated his life to protecting others, was killed in the senseless violence. His wife was also injured but, by some miracle, survived.

The unimaginable pain of this tragedy is made even heavier by the circumstances—Albert lost his life at the hands of his own grandson. A man who had spent his life in service to his community, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—Albert was the rock of his family.

He was also the sole provider for both his wife and his granddaughter, whom they were raising together with unwavering love and devotion. Now, they face not only profound grief but also the financial uncertainty of life without him.
