Hi!
I am raising money for a trip to Eswatini with World Challenge in the summer of 2025. On the trip, I will be volunteering directly at a neighbourhood care point for 3 days, as well as a 3-day trek and going on safari; truly once in a lifetime opportunities.
Eswatini has an area 17,363 km, and to help raise money I will be swimming 17,363 m over the course of a couple of months. Half of all the money I raise will go to GiveDirectly
You may have heard about Give Directly (Rory Stewart was their former President and now Senior Advisor). Direct cash donations have consistently been proven to be the most effective way of combatting global poverty. If you'd like to find out more, please watch these couple of videos:
- Rory's TED talk about the impact of direct cash giving: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt0HOe7gf7I
- Why Give Cash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64z9-m6wEw0
Whilst they don't currently operate in Eswatini, they are active across Africa and the rest of the world (DRC, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, Bangladesh and the U.S.
The other half will help fund my trip (Go Fund Me doesn't allow me to split half and half directly from the page, but rest assured, any money received will be split in half and donated through me).
Thank you so much for any donation, I am incredibly grateful! :)
