Hi my name is Tamara and I'm fundraising for my dog Estrella. She was diagnosed with a heart murmur that with time it start it worst.
Estrella is very loving, caring and affectionate dog she is currently 13 years old, she isn't just a simple dog to me and to my family she is our family and little baby.
At the beginning of this year her heart murmur was still at a level 3 ish and it progressed to a level 4 which is considered loud. Last week on wednesday June 11th it was when she got diagnosed with level 4 heart murmur, the day before she has start it panting and having a bit of a hard time breathing normally. Her Dr suggested to monitor her for a few days while she is resting or sleeping and counting how many breaths per minute. She was breathing normal for about an hour or two and than she will start breathing abnormally more than she should per minute. The normal is 24-32 and abnormal is more. She was breathing up to 50 stabilize. But since this morning she start it breathing heavier to the point that if felt her heart was coming out of her mouth.
Right now she is on emergency on oxygen, they are trying to stabilize her breathing, the Dr at the emergency believes her heart start it failing and that she has some fluids in her lungs, but nothing is clarified yet until they do some blood work and x-rays. The rate they have giving me is $5K-$7K depending on how many night she spends at the hospital.
I'm a delivery driver for amazon and don't make much, and also my parents are retired, my dad isn't working anymore due to cancer and my mom hardly works too and also not making enough.
From the bottom of my heart whatever amount you are able to donate to help pay Estrella emergency Bill and after care I will really appreciate it.
I will keep everyone posted daily on hos she is doing in the mornings.
***UPDATE***
Doctor called and said the results came back , that she has what he suspected congestive heart failure, due to that also her liver has inflammation.
Compared to this morning she is better still on oxygen, also they have given her medication to drain the fluids from her lungs and shes on heart medication. But she will still remain in the hospital tonight, tomorrow they will do more x-rays and blood work.
*** NEW UPDATE*****
Estrella is doing a lot better, her tests from today showed big improvements and may be coming home later in the evening if she is able to breath good by her own. But now she will be medicated until she decides to cross the . Her heart medication since it will have to be compounded to be fluid because she’s a picky little girl to take medication by tablets her medication may be a little bit more costly than just the straight pills. But hoping she can home tonight. She is drinking lots of water but not eating much at the hospital. When I go visit her this afternoon I will go try feed her food. I will share a picture of her if she comes home!
**NEW UPDATE**
Estrella was discharged and is home, her medication cost monthly will be $84 not $250 like dr was expecting. For now she’s stable, she ate when she got home, went out to the backyard to pee a little, and then went to take a nap with her grandpa.
Also the grand total for her hospitalization , tests and meds came to $3285
** UPDATE **
Estrella is slowly feeling back to normal even though she is on medication at home. She went pee and #2 by herself without me having to beg her to at least do pee. She start it waggling her tail, and feeling more comfortable and confident.
** Saturday update **
Estrella is slightly feeling better, feeling a bit more like herself, she start it barking again which is a good sign too. The first hours she couldn’t bark so she would communicate by crying. She’s eating and drinking normally now. I’m hoping she does go #2 again today eventually. Because yesterday she went around 4am., I think it could be because of her medications. I’m giving her in the morning her digestive food to help her go. But since yesterday she has gone yet. She has gone pee a lot. Something I forgot to mention when she was discharged was that her heart murmur that has now became a congested heart failure is that it’s a secondary problem/effect the doctors believe the main problem is that she has a mitral valve disease. Which needs to be verified by a specialist. I’m not sure how much the cost for that will be, that’s why the doctors for now they said all they care at the moment is her being stable at home and treating her heart because now her valve seems to be doing okay with the effects of the medications. She does have an appointment booked for check up on how the medications are working on Wednesday and that’s another bill too coming up. Everything for her at this moment helps wether it’s donating, sharing or praying for her health, my family and I really appreciate all the support from everyone. I will keep posting updates. Thank you again everyone!
**Update**
Estrella is feeling a little bit more like her self, including now going # 2 and asking for snacks here and there. Now she is taking a nap with her grandpa.
**update**
like I mentioned before she slowly getting her energy and feeling more like herself. Sorry for the late night update. She did wake me up at 4am to ask for food. . I’m looking forward to the check up on Wednesday to see how she is doing. Fingers crossed everything is getting better besides stable. Just so she can be back to her normal of being a smiling dog.
** morning update**
Estrella is feeling much better today. She’s smelling the street flowers
** update**
appointment went well but it was a tech appointment to get some blood work done. We are eating for results. She seems to be doing better since today was the first day she smiled in 2 weeks
**update from yesterday and today**
yesterday I received good news about her blood work everything seems to be going well for Estrella. Just that on of the medications is giving her a little of side effect by giving her some inflammation on her little mass under the armpit but other than that as long as she keeps being hydrated with fresh water at all times that will go away.
Today she woke up with a little bit of more energy which is good even though she had a bit of rough night sleeping last night just because it seems something from what she ate at dinner got stuck on her throat but I kept giving her water and massaging her back and chest, and telling her to throw up if she had too but she’s didn’t. But now she seems to be doing better this morning which I’m happy .
** update**
each day she wakes up she feels a little bit more better . I think with the time adjustment of the medication she used to take at 3am and 3pm to now 6am and 6pm , she sleeps better throughout the night which is good. She loves sleeping with a small pillow and her lamb plushy today she had a bath and feels more relaxed and fresh.
UPDATE***
today Estrella is feeling happy . Enjoy the nice day with some shade . We hoping she keeps doing well with the medications next check up is in 3 months.
** UPDATE**
Estrella is doing better, I feel like she feels more like herself but not with too much energy. I believe her taking for strong medications has her feel tired , some days shes happy and has some energy and other days she seems sad and tired. It will be a somewhat long journey until she decides to cross the rainbow but as long she can hold on being stable to keep being among my family and I we will do our best to keep her alive. I will be doing weekly updates from now on, unless otherwise something comes up. Here is a picture of her from today
update ***
this week she has been somewhat a lot more energetic and playful but there are some days where she doesn’t want to do anything except to chill and stay all cozy in bed.
UPDATE
Estrella is doing well she’s just trying to be picked again with food but we try to make her understand she can’t have certain things anymore. We got her also new more healthier snacks that won’t raise her heart. She will be going for check up either next month or beginning of October. She is just having some pee incidents at night because of all her water intake because one medication makes her really thirsty. But she is doing okay like she is stable, we try to take her everywhere we go. On the weekend we went to the pack by the river and she went in the water to refresh. Please help me keep sharing, I will try to share on a friend’s local radio. Her medications I thought it was $84 only but it’s like $184 for her 4 medications plus check ups every 3-4 months. Anything helps whether it’s donating or sharing, my family, Estrella and I will really appreciate it !
