Update 11/21/2024: Maverick's first two surgeries have been a success! Praise the Lord! However he is in a great deal of pain. Please prayer with us that his pain would become manageable, and that his body will get rest before his third surgery on Monday. I am blown away by how supportive and generous everyone has been the Estes family, and i know they are blown away as well. God is so good and they are so thankful for everyone who has helped them; money and mostly prayers.
With that said, I have raised the goal to allow everyone to have a chance to give who might want too. All proceeds will greatly benefit them with medical needs and Mavericks lack of income while he is being treated and recovering. You are all such a blessing!
Hello friends!
On behalf of the Estes family I have created this GoFundMe. For those who might not know, just a couple weeks ago Maverick was having some serious pain in his back/abdomen. What they thought was a case of kidney stones ended up placing them face to face with a serious medical diagnosis. After multiple scans, they found some sort of tumor on Mavericks spine and that his L1 vertebrae was almost completely eaten out from the inside by something unknown. The doctors described his vertebrae as an "eggshell".
Since early this past week Maverick has been bedridden in the hospital. Addy has been by his side while a community of family and friends have helped care for the kids. It has been an overwhelming week for them as they are still waiting for answers as to what this tumor might be, a potential cancer diagnosis, and what the process of stabilizing his spine will look like moving forward. We do praise the Lord that the cancer is contained to the spine and has not spread anywhere else in the body.
As of now, Maverick has a couple of surgeries on his spine next week to begin that process. They are still waiting on the biopsy results of the tumor, but it seems very possible that chemo and/or radiation could follow.
Because of this, Maverick will be out of work for 6+ weeks. There was a mix up at HR at his work which puts them in a greater lack regarding help he might get from insurance. All in all, Maverick will be out of work for awhile and is the sole provider of their family.
We ask that you would consider donating to the Estes family to help lighten the financial burden that they will be facing. This is a practical way to help come along side them as they are navigating this unknown time.
We are praising the Lord for the ways that He is already moving in this. Providing a great team of care for Maverick, peace and comfort for them as they enter another scary season of cancer within their small and precious family, and showing mercy that this is contained to one area of his body and it has not spread anywhere else. God is Good and Faithful even in scary times, and we know He holds the Estes family in His hands. We know that Maverick and Addy believe this too.
Not even two years ago their son Caed had his own diagnosis that took them through a year of chemo with him. Please pray alongside us for Addy and Maverick. For healing, and also for strength and peace. Your prayers on their behalf mean so much to them.
