Establish Rosie & Annikki's Woodworking Workshop

Hi, we are Rosi and Annikki and we work together as Polilla Cooperative, an artisanal carpentry in Oaxaca, Mexico.

We're crowdfunding donations to help us improve the equipment in our workshop, to enable us to achieve our aims of teaching woodwork to other women and queer people in our community, and to turn this dream into a sustainable project.
We have found in carpentry, a trade traditionally viewed as a male practice, that as queer women our access to the profession is limited. We´ve also had to face things like sexualisation, harassment, and being treated as less capable, restricted to a secondary status.
Through our experiences of trying to learn while being treated as outsiders, we feel the need to build collaborative learning spaces in which we feel safe and can create a kinder working environment of equity between all participants.
With this in mind we are also inspired to create a space for teaching that challenges the standard formats and to build a network with other women, queer and trans people, who have lived similar experiences to our own.
Most of the projects we have worked on have been small, and at times we are limited by low resources and a working space not well adapted to the needs of a professional workshop.
We feel stuck in the poverty cycle of needing more profit to fund expansion but lacking the equipment to efficiently produce the profitable projects that would enable us to grow.
With your donations we can:
- Better equip ourselves with the tools and machinery neccesary to meet the standards of a professional workshop
- Improve the infrastucture and conditions that we work in
-Offer workshops to other women, queer and trans people
Meaning that:
- We could grow as a project and as a team
- Our work could reach more people
- We could nuture ourselves in a wider community of learning and mutual support

Hola, somos Rosi y Annikki, trabajamos juntas como Polilla Cooperativa, una Carpintería Artesanal en Oaxaca, México.
Estamos buscando donaciones para adquirir más herramientas e infraestructura en nuestra taller, y para hacer de este sueño un proyecto sustentable.
Ambas nos hemos dado cuenta de que los oficios como la carpintería, son vistos como prácticas masculinas y a las mujeres o personas sexodisidentes se nos limita el acceso a estos conocimientos. Además en estos espacios enfrentamos situaciones de acoso, sexualización y nos restringen a ciertas tareas que retrasan nuestro aprendizaje.
A partir de estas experiencias, decidimos trabajar en generar un espacio propio, en el que podamos compartir nuestro conocimiento y experiencia con otras personas, y así en un futuro poder abrir el espacio para colaboraciones y tejer redes entre mujeres y sexodisidencias que han estado en nuestra misma situación.
Hasta ahora los proyectos en los que hemos trabajado han sido pequeños y en ocasiones nos hemos encontrado limitadas por escasos recursos y un espacio de trabajo que no cumple con las necesidades de un taller profesional.
Con su apoyo podremos:
