We are Mel and Bev, volunteer fundraisers supporting Celandine Wood Animal Rescue, a completely self-funded rescue dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming healthy animals.

Celandine Wood Animal Rescue was founded by a veterinary professional who saw a growing number of healthy animals being brought to practices for euthanasia through no fault of their own. Determined to change this, the rescue was established to give these animals a second chance. Since then, it has grown significantly and now takes in cats and dogs from other rescues, veterinary practices, and council pounds when their allocated time has run out.

Due to a lack of suitable facilities on the Wirral, the dog kennels are now based in Wrexham. While this move has allowed the rescue to continue its vital work, the unit requires further improvements to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of both the animals and the dedicated volunteers who care for them.

We are aiming to raise £30,000 to fund essential upgrades, New Flooring, New Kennels with safety hatches, secure external dog runs, Industrial Drying Machine and personal protective equipment (PPE) for volunteer staff. These improvements will enable the rescue to operate safely and continue saving the lives of animals who otherwise would have no future.

We recently lost one of our Kennel dogs Sandy who was a firm favourite of the volunteers. In her memory, one of our Volunteers Morgan, has arranged a Sponsored Walk from Medivet Heswall to Parkgate and then on to Wrexham for the brave few, including our founder Sharon. This takes place on 26th April and you can sponsor or make a donation here.
