Essential medical equipment for Shirati Hospital

Dear friends,

We are reaching out to you from rural Tanzania, because we currently have the big opportunity to send a container with essential medical equipment to Shirati Hospital with help of the ZGT Overzee Foundation. We want to fill the container with machines to give oxygen to newborns so we can finally start a neonatal intensive care unit, with equipment to monitor the health of a fetus during labour, machines that make peanut and nutrient paste for malnourished children, an ECG device that can diagnose heart disease, materials to set-up a whole new operating theatre for pregnant women next to the delivery room, notebooks for efficient ward rounds, external fixators to treat broken bones and much more! Also we want to re-use the container and transform it into a medical facility on the hospital grounds!

Daily we are facing many challenges in Shirati Hospital and unfortunately the newborn mortality rate is still high and care for pregnant women can be greatly improved. We believe that we can make big improvements for the entire hospital this year with the right materials and training. Most of the equipment will be used for the planned expansions of the "Wodi ya Wazazi" (the ward of parents).

If you could help us by offering a donation of any size, we would be very grateful! ;)

(We try to get most of the equipment as a donation from hospitals in the Netherlands, but this is time consuming and some devices are very hard to get, therefore we will use your donations to purchase (often used) equipment from non-profit organizations like "Stichting Medic")
