SAVE OUR SHELTER
Is plan B a possibility.?
Ater more than 30 years in rescue, you'd think we'd be hardened. But every day still brings heartache — and hope. Right now, PAWS is at a crossroads, and we need your help to decide which road to take.
For 20 years, we've operated from the same site — a place where five thousand dogs have found safety, recovery, and a second chance. It's not perfect, but it's home. However, recent requirements from Tipperary County Council for drainage works, plus the necessary kennel upgrades that are needed have left us in a difficult position. The work is necessary — and rightly so — but as the land does not legally belong to the charity, we can’t justify sinking funds into a property we don’t own.
That leaves us with a possible second option. Option B is to try and stay. The site we currently use has been professionally valued, at €70,000. If PAWS could raise the funds to purchase the property, we could carry out the necessary works and secure the future of our rescue — without starting from scratch and be beholding to a landlord that could ask us to leave at any time. We have been offered potential financial support towards the drainage and kennel improvements... if the site is in our name. That’s the sticking point.
We know it’s a big challenge. But this isn’t just a piece of land. It’s a lifeline for animals who have nowhere else to go. Owning it would give us the security to keep fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves.
We’re asking the public — our friends, supporters, and animal lovers — for ideas, for support, for help. Could you help us fundraise? Organise an event? Sponsor a kennel? Every little step will bring us closer to a permanent home for PAWS. Please give us your ideas.
Please share this appeal. Email [email redacted] or message us on Facebook if you can help, or just to share your thoughts. Let’s find a way forward — together.
