Urgent Dental Care Needed After Severe Seizures
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Julie, Megan’s mum, and I’m reaching out to raise funds for my beautiful daughter.
Megan is a 27-year-old mother of two who faces extraordinary challenges every day. She lives with complex epilepsy, which affects her entire brain lobe. Her condition includes petit mal absence seizures, cluster seizures, and grand mal seizures. On top of that, Megan also manages type 1 diabetes and ADHD.
Her latest brain scan revealed a staggering 178 seizure events in just 48 hours. Despite being on the maximum medication for her type of epilepsy, daily life remains both incredibly difficult and risky for Megan. Still, she fights every single day to be the best mum she can be for her children.
Over the past decade, Megan’s repetitive grand mal seizures have caused severe physical injuries, including multiple fractures to her cheekbone and jaw. Tragically, this has led to the loss of several teeth.
The impact goes beyond the physical. The loss of her teeth has severely affected Megan’s self-confidence and mental health, leading to social anxiety and isolation, which in turn has deeply affected her family life.
After consulting with Epilepsy Action, the only option Megan has been offered is loose dentures. Unfortunately, these pose a serious choking hazard during seizures, making them a dangerous and unsuitable solution.
The funds raised will go toward private dental treatment, enabling Megan to restore her smile through a safe and suitable procedure. This will not only eliminate the risks associated with loose dentures but also help rebuild her self-confidence, allowing her to reclaim her sense of self and improve her and her family’s quality of life.
