Mikey's Fight
Donation protected
Thursday September 14th was a normal day for most of us until we got the text which we didn't know would change the Daigle's lives forever. "Hey guys, So Mikey is being admitted to the hospital. We came in for shortness of breath and chest pain." What we thought was a simple couple of blood clots and loss of blood since his Hemoglobin was 3.8 (normal for men is 12), turned out to be a lot more complex. Since he was obviously bleeding from somewhere and had to get MULTIPLE blood transfusions to get him slightly above 7, he had to get an IVC filter placed and stop his blood thinners. As normal routine after the IVC placement, a CT scan was done to make sure the filter was in the right place, but also found out why Mikey was bleeding. The doctors found a tumor in Mikey's bladder that had been making him urinate blood for a long time now and finally had an answer. Mikey had multiple procedures in the hospital and still isn't done even though he’s finally out of the hospital. The family was told it was cancer and he's going to need further treatment.
Mikey is a HUGE sports fan! This is one thing that has really helped him in his time in the hospital. Rooting on the Giants and Yankees is one of his favorite pastimes. Instead of having our usual Sunday get together at the Daigle house, these past couple of weeks of football have looked a little different with friends and family. Through it all, Mikey has maintained a positive outlook.
This fight is going to be a long road for Mikey, his family, and his friends. The Daigle's need your support throughout this fight in order to be able to survive and focus on his treatment and not have to stress financially. Mikey will be out of work for a long time and Victoria will have to take time to help with Mikey and their 2 children. The last thing they need to worry about is where their next meal is coming from or if their bills are paid on time. Please consider donating. I also set up a calendar in case people want to donate meals to the family, so they don't have to worry about cooking for themselves on these days. The meals can be home cooked, and hand delivered or ordered from somewhere and delivered. You can also reach out to donate gift cards if you so choose.
I have attached a calendar for the next 3 months where you can sign up for dinner starting October 2nd. If you cannot add to it, reach out to me and I can add it for you. PS. No Chicken (unless it's Chic-Fil-A) and no fish meals. Thank you!
The family had asked that you please respect their privacy during this time and not text or call them. Thank you for understanding!
