Dear Friends and Family,

I’m writing to you as a mother, with heart in hand, as I prepare for a journey I never imagined I would have to take. My children, Jhesua and Julieth, have started a transplant process that can cure Sickle Cell Disease, and while it fills us with hope, it also comes with fear, uncertainty, and a great deal of preparation.

Our Journey
Both of my children have lived with sickle cell disease since birth. From a very young age, our lives have been filled with medications, doctor’s appointments, hospitalizations, and constant worry. Treatments help manage some of the symptoms, but they do not cure the disease. Over the past few years, we have prayed for this transplant process to become a reality, as it represents our greatest hope for a healthier future for them.

Although we are grateful for this opportunity, the road ahead is very intense. The transplant includes high-dose chemotherapy, followed by long hospital stays and months of recovery. During this time, which is estimated to last approximately two years, we will need to remain in isolation to protect their immune systems. Thinking about watching them go through all of this is incredibly hard, but I hold on to hope for their healing.

The Impact on Our Family
This journey has already had a heavy emotional and financial impact on our family. While medical insurance covers the transplant procedures, many expenses are not covered. Preparing for an extended stay in New York means travel, housing, food, medications, and many unexpected costs. In addition, we must continue to meet our financial responsibilities back home—rent, our car, insurance, utilities, and all the basic household expenses—even while we are away for an extended period of time.

As parents, we do everything we can to stay strong for our children. We juggle work with countless medical appointments, hospitalizations, and emergency room visits. The prolonged time away from work during the transplant and recovery period will make our financial situation even more challenging, at a time when our main focus is simply being present for our children.

How You Can Help
With great humility, I ask for your support during this season of our lives. Your support will go toward:

  • Treatments and medications not covered by insurance
  • Temporary housing in New York
  • Food and daily living expenses during our stay
  • Lost income due to time away from work

Any support, no matter how small, will help lighten the burden we are carrying so we can focus fully on caring for Jhesua and Julieth during this incredibly important time. They are unbelievably brave, loving, and resilient, and I believe with all my heart that this journey can lead them toward a healthier future.

Thank You
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love, prayers, and support. Every donation, every message, and every time you share our story means more than I can express. Thank you for walking alongside us on this journey.

With deep gratitude,
Nazzaria

Queridos amigos y familia,
