Childhood Cerebral Palsy.
In this space, we share Benjamin's story. As first-time parents, it has been a journey full of challenges and learning experiences; we thought we knew what to expect, but every day surprises us with something new.
Our family is always on the move. Join us and discover Benjamin's ups and downs and great strides.
Benjamin was born at 28 weeks gestation due to premature rupture of membranes and weighed 750 grams. He required care in a radiant warmer for four months and home oxygen for a year. He spoke his first words at eight months and began physical rehabilitation at one year old. At two years old, he began crawling, albeit irregularly; thanks to neurotherapy, he was potty trained at three and began chewing and eating solid foods.
At six years old, he started school through virtual classes due to the pandemic. At seven years old, he underwent tendon surgery, and at eight, he was able to walk for the first time with the help of a walker. Later, he entered fourth grade and attended in-person classes for the first time.
Benjamin has allergies to fava beans, dog hair, and dust mites.
I dream of seeing him walk independently, lead an autonomous life, and successfully enter the workforce. He frequently expresses his own desires, such as traveling to other countries and living on his own. Sometimes I worry that, in this process, he might find it difficult to adapt to or interact with different types of people.
Benjamin is currently 11 years old. Throughout this time, we have dedicated all our efforts and resources to seeing him progress and improve his quality of life. However, we are currently facing a difficult financial situation due to the expenses associated with his therapies and the purchase of the orthotics necessary for his physical rehabilitation.
For this reason, we request your support to maintain the progress Benjamin has made and continue working to improve his well-being and quality of life.
