Esmie's Barcelona Trip

Hi! My name is Esmeralda and I am currently a fourth year studying architecture at USC.

I am very grateful to have been selected to take part in the fall 2022 USC Barcelona Study Abroad Program!! I have never traveled outside of the US, aside from Mexico, so this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This trip was meant to happen in 2020, but due to the global pandemic, it was pushed back. Fortunately, it is finally happening and I cannot be more excited for this trip!! We will be traveling not only to Barcelona, but also have the opportunity to see Amsterdam, Utrect, Rotterdam, Delft, Paris, Madrid, Sevilla, Grenada, and Cordoba!! I have officially booked my flight tickets and applied for my visa (so exciting)!! My trip officially runs from August 22, 2022, to December 7, 2022.

Why Barcelona you may ask? Barcelona truly stuck out to me due to its rich history in architecture and its wacky designs. Also, my 6 year old self would not forgive me if I didn't go to Barcelona just like the Cheetah girls did! Gaining this experience of studying abroad will no doubt change my view on the world and allow me to fully engulf myself in another culture, language, and vernacular of architecture.

I will be studying at the Barcelona La Salle University School of Architecture campus under two professors and alongside Barcelonian students. I don't think there is a more exciting opportunity than to study what I love while exploring new places, meeting new people, and surrounding myself with Barcelona's traditions and cultures.

While studying abroad, I will have additional expenses due to the nature of the program. All flight/travel expenses are my responsibility, along with any hotels/AirBNBs that are required for the duration of the program. Furthermore, as I will not be on USC's campus, my work study jobs are not able to run virtually for this time period, minimizing my ability to fully sustain the expenses necessary. If you donate to my cause, you will not only be investing in my future, but you will also help me live out a lifelong dream to study abroad! Any help at all would truly be appreciated!!
