UPDATE: A week on from the events that changed their lives, Esme's family have asked me to convey their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their unwavering support.
The messages, flowers, gifts and donations have been overwhelming and of tremendous comfort whilst they navigate this tragic situation.
Whilst nothing can bring back Esme, the love and kindness shown has helped beyond words.
Thank you, from Tracy, Neil, Matthew and Erica x
My name is Robyn and I spent the day yesterday with Tracy, Neil, Matthew and Erica. We sat together in their lounge, talking, crying and trying to make sense of the events from Saturday night.
To watch the profound sadness, utter bewilderment and disbelief of this family is truly heartbreaking.
Esme was many things to many people, but she was Tracy and Neil's little girl and Matthew's little sister. They will forever live with the 'what ifs' and the missing piece of their jigsaw.
We visited the beautiful memorial with a sea of flowers, candles and balloons. I watched a large group of young people quietly sobbing, hugging each other and mourning their friend.
So many of you have asked how you can help — and we want to be honest: the family don’t need this through financial difficulty.
Esme loved dogs and her dream job was to work for the charity "Dogs for Good", a local charity who help people build connections with dogs that can make everyday life possible - in so many ways.
If you would like to make a donation in Esme's memory, all monies will be donated to Dogs for Good.
Thank you for the overwhelming support shown at this most horrendous time. Please keep Esme and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace beautiful girl, forever 18
