Hi, I’m a Year 10 student from the UK and in July 2027 I have the opportunity to take part in an educational expedition to the Indian Himalayas. This isn’t just a school trip. It’s a chance to step outside the classroom and learn about global issues, culture and leadership in a real and meaningful way.
During the expedition, I’ll be working with local charities and women’s cooperatives to understand human rights, fair trade, environmental protection and poverty reduction. I’ll also visit places of major religious importance, including the Golden Temple, and meet organisations such as Pingalwara to see how communities support vulnerable people. Alongside this, I’ll complete the requirements for the ASDAN Universities Award, which will strengthen my future university applications.
Part of the experience will also include a supported trek through the Himalayan foothills. This will challenge me physically and mentally, helping me develop resilience, teamwork and leadership skills that I can carry forward into sixth form, university and beyond.
To make this opportunity possible, I’m fundraising over the next two years. Any contribution, big or small, will help cover travel, accommodation, training and project costs. I’m committed to putting in the effort through fundraising events and preparation, and your support would genuinely make a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me take part in what will be a once in a lifetime experience.
