Hi, my name is Sabrina, and my cat’s name is Luna. He is 3 years old and, yes, he’s a male. When he was a kitten, I initially thought he was female, but one day it became clear he wasn’t. Still, I decided to keep his name because it suited him perfectly and he was just too cute.

On September 10, 2025, I noticed Luna wasn’t acting like himself. His mouth, especially his gums, and even his nose had a yellowish tint. At first, I tried to wipe it off, thinking it might be a stain, but it wasn’t. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where I was told that his liver enzymes were extremely elevated, not in the hundreds, but in the thousands. It was shocking how quickly this happened. All of his other labs came back normal, but his liver was the main concern.

I had to make the difficult decision to hospitalize him for 24 hours. I wasn’t prepared for any of this, and I’m heartbroken that Luna isn’t home with me right now, but instead in an unfamiliar place.

I’m a full-time nursing student, and when I’m not studying, I work at the hospital as a nurse extern to help cover tuition and school-related expenses. This situation has been overwhelming, not only emotionally but also financially, as emergency vet care is costly everywhere. I’ve covered the initial hospitalization, but there’s a possibility the costs will rise if Luna needs to stay longer.

I don’t usually like to ask for help, as I try to manage things on my own, but right now I would deeply appreciate any kindness, support, prayers, or donations from anyone willing to help. This has never happened to Luna or me before, and we need all the encouragement we can get.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of Luna’s care. Every contribution will go directly toward his hospitalization and any medications he may need moving forward. This will also go towards his liver support medications and food, and quite literally anything that will support him.
