Eryk Hardwick’s Fight Against Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Hello, my name is David Hardwick and my dad, Eryk, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Appendix Cancer. Although we prayed it would not spread, a recent scan confirmed that it has spread to his stomach lining and both his small and large intestine. This information proves the cancer is extremely aggressive and needs immediate treatment in order to prevent further spreading. His first treatment of Chemo starts Wednesday, August 23.
My dad currently lives alone on his farm about 50 miles from where I am and about 30 miles from the nearest town. He has lived here for the last 20 years and has always taken care of the farm alone. As his diagnosis is very serious and his treatment plan is aggressive, he already has been having a hard time keeping up with all of the daily tasks. As his treatment begins and continues for an unknown period of time, we expect that it will only get harder for him to care for the land and animals.
As his only family, the undertaking of helping him has already been immense. With being so far from him and him being far from everything else, expenses have already begun to incur. He hasn’t been able to drive to many of his appointments, so I have been driving over an hour to pick him up and then taking him another hour away to his appointments and back. This takes away almost an entire workday and sometimes two when I stay overnight with him. This is important to me as my dad has never expected or asked much of anyone. Neither of us are one to ask for help, but during these times we really need a community behind us to show a little extra love and support.
Currently the treatment plan is 6 months of Chemo in order to try and stop the cancer from spreading further. At the end of the 6 months they will be reevaluating to see if the Cancer has stopped spreading. If the cancer has stopped spreading they plan to remove his appendix (the origin of the cancer). We have been praying that this will be the case but if Chemo is unsuccessful, they will have to formulate a new treatment plan.
Any contributions are greatly appreciated, no matter the amount, and will be put towards any and all expenses such as: medical, farm, travel, and food expenses. As well as any monthly bills such as mortgage, electricity, and water. Throughout this time my dad has remained positive and faithful. He is very involved in his church family and we are grateful for all of the support they provide, as God is an important part of his life. We understand not everyone will be able to contribute monetarily, but we ask that everyone please send many prayers our way.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my dads story, and thank you ahead time for any contributions towards his battle against cancer.
