We are heartbroken to share that Errol “Budoy” Marabilles has passed away. He was not only a son of Samar and a proud Bisaya artist, he was a pillar of reggae in Cebu and across the Visayas. His life and music touched countless people, and his loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and fans.
Budoy is best known as the iconic frontman and songwriter of the Cebu-based reggae band Junior Kilat. Through songs like “Ako si M16,” “Original Sigbin,” and many others, he helped bring Visayan reggae and the Cebuano language to a wider audience. His music carried humour, heart, and strong local identity. He made many of us proud to be Bisaya and showed that homegrown reggae from the Visayas had its own powerful voice.
Many will also remember him from Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition, where his chill presence, dreadlocks, and sharp wit stood out. On and off the screen, Budoy was the same person. Kind, funny, real, and always ready with a song or a story.
In the coming days, Budoy will be brought to Sigbin Haus at Eden Resort, his artist bar and creative home in Santander, Cebu, so that friends, fans, and the community who loved him can pay their respects. His family is expected to arrive on Monday or Tuesday to be with him. From there, they will travel with him to Cebu City for interment, and finally bring him home to Samar for his final rest.
This fundraiser has been created to help Budoy’s family cover the costs of his funeral, memorial services at Sigbin Haus, travel and interment in Cebu City, and the final journey to Samar. Losing someone is already heavy. We hope to ease the financial weight so his loved ones can focus on grieving, honouring his memory, and giving him the respectful farewell he deserves.
If Budoy’s music, words, or presence ever made you smile, dance, think, or feel a little braver and prouder of who you are, we invite you to give whatever you can. No amount is too small. Every donation is a way of saying “thank you” for all the years he spent lifting Visayan reggae and sharing his gifts with us.
Please keep his family and close friends in your thoughts and prayers. Help us by sharing this campaign with others who knew and loved him, so together we can celebrate his life and support his final journey home.
Until then, his music lives on...
P.S. This page will be updated for further details on the ongoing mobilization of Budoy's memorial activities to celebrate his legacy and music. Padayon ta, nyor
