Nobody is ever prepared to lose someone they love. I wished I had more time with my father. He’s been in the hospital since 01/17/24. He originally went in for cellulitis in his arm on 01/01/24 and sent home with antibiotics. He showed signs he was still sick and weak. He went in on the 17 because the infection grew into his blood and he was told he has sepsis and pneumonia. They were treating him for that, but a few days after he was unable to speak, walk, or move. The doctors weren’t sure why, so they did a spinal tap. Turns out he had valley fever and meningitis. It created a bacterial infection in his blood, brain, and later made its way to his lungs. My father is a strong man and has over come so many trials and tribulations. He beat cancer in 2020, but this time his body has declared itself tired. We put him on hospice yesterday due to the rapid deterioration. My father was a flawed man as many of us are, but his heart was so pure. He did not have much, but he’d give the shirt off his back if someone needed. He loved Jesus and would get choked up talking about him which is funny because this man can talk forever. He loved his family. He would have done anything for my brothers and I. Letting him go is harder than I ever imagined. I hope and wish to give him a beautiful service and one that will be a great honor of his memory. Anything and everything helps. I love you my pops. Until I see you again your monkey.
