Erin’s Van Fund

Donation protected
For my birthday, I have 2 special requests. If at all possible, could you donate to this very special cause for me, any little bit will help, and could you please share this with as many people as you can think of.

Robin is a very good friend of mine. Her children attended Lincoln HS with mine. Robin and Normand’s oldest child, Evan, is an amazing brother and son, and although he suffers the side effects of Chiari Malformation, he pushes forward in college. Robin’s husband Normand is a Navy Veteran who did 3 deployments in Bahrain and Robin works with Children with Severe/Profound disabilities all day long at Meeting Street School. Robin and Normand have always put their children first. Their daughter, Erin, developed an infection after birth which caused a grade 4 head bleed. Thus, causing the doctors to prepare Robin and Norm for the very likely possibility that she would not survive. Miss Erin proved everyone wrong and celebrated her 21st birthday last year. However, as a result of the bleed, she struggles with CP. When she was born and they were given this news, Norm got out of the Navy because he knew it was best to bring his family closer to home to have the support needed. He has since then become Erin’s daytime caregiver. He,Robin and Evan have always made sure Erin was included in everything they did, attending mass every Sunday, even if they were late, and going anywhere and everywhere as a family. If Erin could not attend, they did not go without her. This brings me to my request for help. They have been caring for and repairing their 2007 wheelchair accessible minivan for years. However, it has finally met its demise. The parts needed are no longer made and although they search, they cannot seem to find them. This leaves them all homebound. Erin is a vibrant young lady who loves to spend Saturdays with her brother at RIC, hanging with his friends, searching for volunteer opportunitieswhere she can help others, and just being together with family and friends. This is so upsetting for the family. They NEVER ask for help, never complain. I have personally found Robin eating lunch alone with tears streaming…. Just so she can be happy all day with the children she works with and then show strength at home with her family, ready to begin a night filled with more work and stress than most of us deal with in a week. They are truly amazing people! They NEED, not just want, a new van which costs $40-$60,000. The conversion piece alone for the ramp is $20,000. Please, if possible, donate to this Go Fund Me that I am setting up today. I’m praying for them to pull into my driveway with Erin sometime soon. I want to hear Erin yell for me to come out and see her new car! ;-)
