On the morning of January 15, 2017, twenty-one year old Erin Gomez was on her way to her new job. She was excited: she had just been named the new Recreation Supervisor at the Marriott and the weather was beautiful. In an instant though, her world changed. Erin was t-boned by a criminal racing away from the police. Her car was wrapped around her body and she had to be extracted from the wreckage by the 'Jaws of Life'. Erin's pelvis was shattered and her spine was damaged; she underwent surgery to repair her pelvis with external hardware to ensure alignment.
We are all so grateful that Erin survived this accident. Now, as she begins to attempt physical therapy while persevering through debilitating nerve pain, we wish her strength, hope, and courage with each and every step taken using a walker. We know she has it in her! But this road will be long and bumpy.
When you talk to her, Erin is focused on her hopes and dreams. She is an athlete and just graduated from Cortland University last spring. Her new position with Marriott was an amazing step in her career.
Accidents like this - being as traumatic and life-changing as they are - are difficult to accept and move forward from, but that is what Erin and those closest to her are now tasked with doing. Erin will need therapy and our help for a long time to come. If you are able to offer something towards her recovery and her mounting bills, it would be so appreciated. To have a friend is a wonderful gift. Let's help Erin get back on the horse -- or, back on the paddle board.
Thank you, all. Be well.
All good wishes,
Erin's Neighbors ox
