Erin’s Half Marathon for MND

Last January my Nan was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. She sadly lost her battle in March. I promised my Nan I was going to run the half marathon to raise money for MND, since her passing, it has become even more important for me to be able to complete the run in dedication to her.

It is a neurodegenerative disease which affects nerves, and causes muscle weakness. Despite losing her ability to do many things that most would take for granted, my Nan has stayed positive. Her determination and positive attitude is an inspiration to myself and my family.

There isn’t yet a treatment for MND, only medications which can help to reduce the time onset of symptoms, despite this the disease still progress’.

I have decided to run a half marathon to try and raise some money to donate to MND association to aid in their bid to develop further treatments to help prevent others from going through what our family is.
