Erin's Rehab and Recovery
Donation protected
On Saturday April 20th, Erin Jewell accidentally fell at home and hit her head on her kitchen counter. She had been working in the heat all day and we suspect that dehydration led to her fall at home. The fall resulted in two fractures to her cervical spine and dislocation of several other vertebrae. She was sent to Chandler Regional Medical Center for trauma care. On Easter Sunday she underwent her first surgery to help stabilize and straighten her spine. Her second surgery was Monday 4/22 to further stabilize and anchor the cervical spine. The accident caused some damage to her spinal cord and she is experiencing some weakness (mostly on the right side) at this current time. Erin is expected to spend a week in the trauma ICU and then will be transferred to a rehabilitation center to undergo aggressive therapy to help her regain her strength. We are all very optimistic that with rehab she will make a full recovery. She has a long road ahead of her and an awesome family and community that are doing everything they can to support Erin and her family. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help with hospital stay and the extensive therapy regimen she is going to be enduring in the next year.
