Erin's Recovery

It's crazy how life has started to resemble one of those unbelievable primetime TV show sob stories.

On March 21st Erin lost her boyfriend and Natalie lost her daddy to an awful car accident. Erin refused to leave his side for 3 days and nights while he fought for his life in the ICU. At the time, we wanted to take care of everything as a family. We already knew it was going to be so hard to come to terms with the loss of Bryan. We still really haven't. After she said her goodbyes, she knew she had to dust herself off and get back to taking care of herself and her baby girl, which included going back to work the following week. She has so much love from family to support her, and we are all so proud of her.

On the morning of April 12th, less than 3 weeks after saying goodbye to the love of her life, she was on her way to drop Natalie at daycare before going to work. Despite Erin's efforts to move to the side of the road, they were hit head-on by someone who was speeding right towards them. They had to be extricated from the car and immediately taken to the hospital. Natalie came away with some good bruises from the car seat, but was okay. Erin suffered from two left femur fractures, one was compound, a collapsed lung, a broken foot, and a broken heart, as she so heart-wrenchingly told it during her 8-day stay at the hospital. They placed an intramedullary rod in her femur, performed surgery on her wrist, and did everything they could to make her comfortable while the rest of her was healing. When she was ready for discharge, she came home with family.

Erin decided she just wants to be in her own home getting back to being mom to Natalie. It's going to take a lot of healing, PT and time to get back into fighting shape. After only 1 week back in her own apartment, barely able to get up and down her stairs, she's talking about trying to go back to work so she can afford to keep their home.

We want to be realistic. As much as we want to help her, funds are getting low after Bryan's funeral costs and smaller paychecks from bereavement time most of us had taken off of work two months ago. Any little bit you want to donate to help her and her daughter would be enormously appreciated.

Please help us ease her burden by allowing her to focus on healing both emotionally and physically before she tries to do too much too soon.
