Erin: Sepsis Emergency Situation

Hi, I’m Karen Gleason, Erin’s mother. I am raising funds for my 24 year old daughter because an emergency medical situation has turned our lives upside down. Erin was a healthy prn CCU tech at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and currently enrolled in school. She is prn because she also did travel medical services during Covid when services was so needed.  However, her employer never picked her back up as full time and as a prn employee,  even though she works full time hours, she does not have benefits.

On October 31, she was returning from a trip to Ohio and started feeling really bad. It took her 2 days to get home because she had to keep stopping. Once home I got her to the hospital and she was diagnosed with sepsis and was admitted to the ICU and had surgery Wednesday morning to remove the infection. The infection spread and she needed 3 more surgical procedures and then pulmonary complications including developing ARDS prolonged her stay in ICU. She spent 7 days in ICU and now they are moving her to Augusta Burn Center for wound care for 1-2 months and full recovery with this kind of wound is long term.  

Update:  She is now in the ICU Burn Unit at Augusta for wound care.  

I am trying to raise funds to be able to pay her bills, mainly her car, while she is recovering because I can’t cover them fully on my own and don’t have reliable transportation for the long visits (It’s an 8 hour round trip) to the burn center on my own.  I use her vehicle.  I appreciate any help and if you need to contact me I am on Facebook.
